I have a bag of baby potatoes I got at Trader Joe's. We're doing bbq tonight. Is there an easy way to prepare potatoes on the bbq, or prep them elsewhere and finish on the bbq?

Thanks,
Mercedes

They'll cook great on the grill. If more than about 3/4" - 1" in diameter slice them. Brush with oil, salt them and roast them at a relatively cool part of the grill; expect about 30 mins maybe. If your main dish is a quick-cooking one, you can precook the spuds in the micro and finish them off on the grill.

Variations: use flavored or herb oil. I like a shot of fish sauce instead of the salt.

BTW yam slices on the grill are absolutely delicious.

I like to coat them with olive oil and sprinkle with kosher salt. Place on grill in an aluminum foil 'boat' to roast until tender.

I like to sprinkle with Montreal Steak Spice, olive oil and a bit of butter, wrap in foil (well sealed, you can tell it's well sealed if it puffs up while you cook it) and cook on indirect heat or the top rack for 1/2 hour - 40 mins, turning every once in a while (not too much you want them to brown and stick a bit to the foil).

OR

Get a big Storage bag, and throw in 2 tbl. of oil, and a packet of Limpton Onion mix, shake it, and cook the same as the above mentioned recipe. That's quick and easy, too.

Just wash the spuds, toss them with olive oil, fresh ground pepper, and course salt (Kosher or sea) to prepare them for cooking. If you have one of those barbecue baskets, just throw the spuds in there and cook like you would any vegetable. If you don't have a basket, then wrap them in aluminum foil, poke some holes in the foil, then cook them on your barbecue.

I do big potatoes in foil on the coals to save space on the rack, but "baby" potatoes surely would be wasted, I would boil them.
